Brett uses late '60s and early '70s songcraft to create a unique variation of the Modern Rock , Emo, Americana, Alt-Country and Folk-Rock genres. The Quotes: "Brett Ratner's guitar can pierce like a stiletto or ooze like some sort of thick liquid (that's a compliment)." - Music Row Magazine, Nashville, Tennessee "Brett Ratner's fingers are quick on his guitar, and his feet are quick on his effects pedals - at times... it sounds like there's an entire guitar section" - The Daily lowan, Iowa City. Iowa "Brett Ratner is one of the most engaging new acts in the area. Ratner's raw vocals combined with his straightforward, hard guitar playing create a passionate performance in the blues/folk tradition." - Chris Wolak, Area Marketing Manager, Borders Books and Music The Sound: Brett Ratner writes rock/pop music with heavy influence in blues and "alternative country." On stage, Ratner often plays solo, recording and layering guitar parts on the fly to create the illusion of an entire band. Ratner enhances his original material with a unique mix of cover songs and extended improvisational jams. Ratner's style has been compared to artists like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Tom Petty and Steve Earle. The Venues: Brett Ratner has performed thousands of shows over the past 10 years. He was one of a select few artists to be placed on regular rotation as a paid performer at six Chicagoland Borders Books and Music stores. Ratner has played for tens of thousands of listeners at outdoor events such as Nashville's "Dancin' in the District," Iowa's "R.A.G.B.R.A.I," the University of Iowa's "Riverfest," not to mention the ever popular "Turkey Testicle Festival" in Huntley, Illinois. Ratner also has hosted several blues jams and open mic nights at pubs in the Chicago area. The Airwaves: By no stretch of the imagination has Brett Ratner achieved his full potential as a recording artist. However, he has lent his guitar playing to several regional commercial jingles. As a member of the band "Katoorah Jayne," he has been heard on Nashville's Les Femmes Qui Rock compilation CD, of which the song "Boy Tried Hard" received regular airplay on WRLT radio in Nashville. More recently, Ratner's rendition of the Jimi Hendrix tune "Voodoo Chile" has been a featured track on "Mojo Dreams," a weekly radio show on Radio Sinaai, Belgium. Other Tidbits: Brett Ratner also is an accomplished music journalist, reviewing concerts, reviewing albums and writing columns for publications like Guitar Player, Musician, Electronic Musician, The Nashville Tennessean, The Nashville Scene, Metromix.com, Citysearch.com and HarmonyCentral.com. Ratner also maintains a roster of 35 guitar students. Brett
