Blues-infused, grunge-laced, modern rock
with a nasty, hard rock edge.
Charlie Nice is: Rousing. Rollicking. Charlie Nice are producing the sort of spirited rock songs that make you silently thank your best friend for turning you onto rock music back when you were 9 or 10. It rekindles the attraction you'd initially felt towards the genre all those years ago. To that time when you'd hear a song on the radio or on a ridiculously recycled cassette tape, and even through all the static, the words would lift you and the chorus would stick with you and the tune would become a faithful friend. Charlie Nice are Connecticut natives who've been garnering acclaim and fans by the truck-load these past couple of years. It's not hard to see why. Their blues-infused hard rock is celebratory, without being unnecessarily joyous. Sure, there's a contagious happiness to their sound, but it's a happiness which seems unforced, flowing beyond any rigid musical structure, touching hearts without intruding. Anthony Truglio, the bands guitarist, has played with many guitar greats, most recently with Page Hamilton of Helmet on the new Gandhi project. Anthony grew up playing classic rock and building his chops before starting a band called Liege Lord. He recorded three albums for Metal Blade Records and toured extensively throughout the country. In 1989, Anthony met up with Trond Fletcher. Trond was playing in a ska band called The New York Citizens. Together they took their experience on the road and began to blaze trails with their own venues. Soon they met blues singer "Cryin' Tim Lyons" at a New York club. Tim's strong, down and dirty, raw vocals ripped through the music and caught their attention. The three began work to pursue their own musical visions. After some time with revolving drummers James "Mummyhead" Drufovka came aboard. James had been recording, playing and touring in New York based hardcore bands, Pry and Burn, but was looking for something new and different. He found Charlie Nice. Charlie Nice is presently touring to support the debut of their 2003 album recorded at The Carriage House in Stamford, Connecticut. The band has been invited to play at the Nemo Music Showcase and Conference in Boston, Massachusetts and also the CMJ music conference and showcase in New York City. They continue collaborating in order to bring audiences a level of music that is sure to please. |
